CHESAPEAKE ROAD RUNNERS

CLUB CONSTITUTION

 

 

1.    The club shall be called Chesapeake Road Runners.
 

2.    The object shall be the encouragement of Road Running, Cross Country Running and Track Running for its members.
 

3.    All members shall be amateurs according to the definition of amateur status given in the Amateur Athletics association Rules for Competition as follows:-

  • An amateur is a member of the Club who competes for the love of the sport and as a means of recreation,  

  • without any motive of securing ant material gain from such competition.

4.    The Club shall be formed of Active and Associate members.
 

5.    The Colours of the Club shall be a White Singlet with Red Diagonal Stripe. Blue shorts with Red and White Vertical bands on the side.
 

6.    The Management of the Club shall be vested in its Committee consisting of a Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and six other Members of the Club all of whom shall be elected annually at the General Meeting of the Club.
 

7.    Annual Subscriptions shall be due each January 1st and shall be the same for First Claim and Second Claim as follows:-

  • Juniors (under 18 on January 1st) ……………………………. £1.00

  • Seniors (18 and over on January 1st) ………………………… £11.00

     This Subscription shall be fixed annually at the Annual General Meeting for the
     following year.

 

8.    Prospective Members must complete and sign an Official Club Membership Application Form. Each Applicant shall be considered at any Ordinary Committee Meeting of the Club and the Applicant shall be admitted or excluded by simple majority vote of the Committee.
 

9.    Members wishing to resign must notify the Hon. Secretary in writing. (Attention is drawn to “the Black Book Rule” - see Rule 10). Resignation letters and Hardship forms shall be dealt with at an Ordinary Committee Meeting to be held on the first Monday of each month with the exception of the Annual General Meeting which shall be held on the first Tuesday in July.
 

10.  Any Member whose Subscription or any kind of arrears is six months overdue shall forfeit ALL privileges of Membership until such arrears be paid:

AAA Black Book Rule

 

An affiliated Club must have the following Law included in its Rules, viz. “The Committee shall have the power to expel any member whose Subscription is six months in arrear, provided a months notice in writing shall have been sent to such member by a registered or recorded letter, addressed to his or her last known address, informing him or her of the proposed action of the Committee”.
 

The name and address of any person so expelled from a Club shall be sent to the Hon. Secretary of the appropriate area Association, who shall enter the name in a book (to be called “the Black Book”) kept for that purpose. Every person whose name has been entered into a Black Book shall be suspended from competing at any meeting held under AAA laws until the liability causing the said expulsion, which shall not exceed one years subscription, shall have been discharged.
 

A Club Secretary sending a name for entry in the Black Book must send the Post Office Receipt for such Registered Letter or Recorded Delivery Letter sent to such person, or the name will not be inserted.
 

11. A sportsmanlike attitude and good behaviour is expected from Members at all times. If the conduct of any Member be inconsistent with the character and interest of the Club, the Committee shall have the power to expel the offender if they deem this justifiable after due and proper consideration. The person concerned shall be given adequate opportunity to state their case before the Committee. Any person so expelled shall be immediately debarred from having any interest in the Club or in its funds and shall never be re-elected.
 

12. No Member shall take part in any Club Championship event or fixture unless his Subscription for the current year be paid.
 

13. The Club Championship shall be open to all First and Second Claim Members.
 

14. The Annual General Meeting shall be held on a Tuesday in July for the purpose of receiving Reports from the Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer and for receiving and approving the Statement of Accounts and Balance Sheet. The Officers of the Club for the ensuing year shall be elected. Other business may be considered at the discretion of the Committee subject to this being included on the Agenda, a copy of which must be circulated to all Members fourteen days before the date of the Meeting.
